Danny is a true digital marketing visionary. He has been an international trainer and commentator on digital marketing for 15 years and is a recognized world authority.
In the early '90s he cut his teeth in web publishing, and in '95 began managing the UK's first online newspaper, Telegraph.co.uk - repeatedly winning online Newspaper of the Year. He set up online magazines, and shops, email news and social media before co-founding the internet marketing trade associations in the UK and Europe. The Internet Advertising Bureau elected him president four times and then appointed him as their inaugural CEO, before he went State-side as a European Vice President for NBC's internet businesses. Over 45,000 marketers have attended his talks and workshops in 30 countries and he set up the Digital Training Academy to help brands share this expertise and get the essential skills they need to be competitive in today's market.
Grant Allaway, MD, Ad2one, UK
Grant Allaway began his career as a sales director in the Reserve Bank of India in 1993 and worked there until 2000. He then began his new job with Reed Business Information, a leading global provider of information and marketing solutions to decision makers and professionals in the United States, UK, continental Europe, Australia and Asia.
Its portfolio of market leading brands makes it the preferred media partner across a range of markets from agriculture to technology. Reed Business Information publishes over 400 business to business magazines, directories and newsletters; it provides access to over 200 online communities and produces an increasing number of job sites, lead generation, data and other online services. Grant then became the Managing Director of Ad2one in 2001. AD2ONE is the UK's leading independent digital advertising sales business, exclusively representing clients such as ebay, Disney, Lonely Planet and Expedia. Operating in UK, Ireland Australia and Singapore, AD2ONE specialises in single site representation.
Ronan Harris, Director of Online Sales Google Ireland
Ronan drives Google's online sales and account management for advertisers across EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
Based at Google's EMEA headquarters in Dublin, Ronan joined Google in 2005 and has focused on growing the online sales channel for new and existing markets and also launched online operations for Google Checkout. From Dublin, Ronan and his team help businesses of all sizes, from Cologne to London and Paris to Oslo, to grow their online business and generate revenues through successful online ad campaigns.
John Healy, CNN's Digital Brand Manager and Founder, Digital Edge
John Healy is the founder of DigitalEdge, a disruptive business strategy and digital product developer for the online media industry. John works as a challenger brand strategist to help media companies harness new ideas and technologies to maximize revenue.
Over the past 17 years, John worked in New York in senior marketing roles with global client and advertising agencies. He is a Cleo award team winner for the IBM "e-Business" campaign. Then in 2006, John was appointed CNN's Digital Brand Manager with responsibility for revenue and audience growth. John helped to build CNN Digital as the leading disruptive media partner in its category.
Jonathan Forrest, MD, Cybercom
Jonathan is Managing Director and co-founder of Cybercom, The Digital Marketing People. Established in 1999, Cybercom has been awarded 'Digital Agency of The Year' on five seperate ocassions and has grown to become the country's leading full service digital agency with a client list that includes Diageo, Coca Cola, Vodafone, RBS, Aviva, Jurys Inns, Open University, Airtricity, AIB and G-Star.
In recent years Cybercom's expansion into international markets has led to 25% of Agency revenues now coming from the UK and beyond. Jonathan's background in integrated advertising and below the line communications has helped shape the Agency's repuation for award winning strategic and creative excellence - resulting in over 23 Industry Gold Awards and Ireland's first ever Global Award for Digital at the 2008 MAA's in Toronto.
Michael Dwyer, founder and CEO of Pigsback.com
Before founding EML, Michael spent 15 years in Marketing and Key Account positions in the FMCG sector. These ranged from Jacob's in Ireland, to Danone in France and Britain, and Green Isle Foods in Ireland, where he was Group Marketing Director until early 2000.
Michael is a recipient of a number of academic and professional awards including "Internet Hero" at the 2005 Golden Spiders and the "Marketing Professional of the Year" award from the Marketing Institute of Ireland in 2003. Empathy Marketing Limited is best known for Pigsback.com, which was launched in Ireland in 2000 and in the UK in 2005. The company also owns Empathy Research, led by Angela Healy, which has pioneered online research in Ireland since 2004. The other significant division is Empathy Communications, run by John Mc Donald since 2005. It uses the company's technology platform and know-how to supply bespoke loyalty and communications solutions to a range of blue-chip clients in Ireland.
John Dunne, Co Founder, Intune Networks
John Dunne began his career as a researcher in University College Dublin in 1995 having graduated from Electronic Engineering at UCD. In 1999, he left the University to set up Intune Networks with Tom Farrell.
He has worked for Intune Networks for the past 11 years, during which time he has served as a Board Member and CEO of the company. In 2006, John moved to his current role as Chief Marketing Officer where he is responsible for the market strategy and product management and marketing at Intune. John has a PhD in the field of Tunable Lasers, and speaks regularly at conferences about how this technology can revolutionise how networks are built and what they can deliver to the business community.
Damian Ryan, Partner and Head of Digital, Results International Group
Damian Ryan has worked in the Irish media business since 1984. Originally he specialised in magazine publishing before focussing on the Internet.
He created the Golden Spider Awards in 1997 before establishing ICAN in 1998 which he subsequently sold to Denis O'Brien's Communicorp Group. Damian went on to establish a series of digital media initiatives before settling on a career in Mergers and Acquisitions with global leaders, Results International Group. In 2009 he co-authored the internationally acclaimed book "Understanding Digital Marketing". He is now completing a second book on digital marketing due for publication in 2010.
Morgan McKeagney, MD, iQ Content
Morgan is Managing Director and co-founder of iQ Content. iQ Content helps clever organisations create profitable and lovable online experiences, through a range of services, including online strategy, website analysis and optimisation, user-centred strategy and design, and website measurement and analytics.
iQ Content's is the strategic web partner for many of Ireland's leading organisations, including Vodafone, Aviva, ESB, permanentTSB, amongst many others. Morgan is a recognised expert in web strategy, web analytics, and user experience, subjects on which he has written and presented extensively. He's a former Director of the Irish Internet Association, and also
founded the IIA's User Experience Working Group.
Patrick Leddy, MD, Furious Tribe
Furious Tribe, a new age digital agency, formed by Patrick Leddy and Mary McGovern, works at a strategic level to help businesses understand the digital channel and how to capitalise on emerging technologies to drive brand awareness and revenues.
FuriousTribe.com provides Mobile Strategy and Development services for Royal Sun Alliance in USA and South America and also consults for EMI Music worldwide in publishing apps for leading artists and monetizing mobile platforms. Although only set up 6 months ago in Dublin it is one of the few companies in the world who develop, in addition to mobile apps, a full suite of 'Content' and App Content Management Systems in over six countries. FuriousTribe.com provides mobile design and content management system for iPhone, Google Android, Pamper, Blackberry and Nokia.
Lee Thompson, Sales Director, i-Believe
Lee Thompson has worked in media for over 15 years with over 10 years spent in Digital Media. Lee started his career in London with DMGT in their digital division, Associated Northcliffe Digital (AND).
Lee was responsible for the Sales and Marketing functions at AND and while there he oversaw the launch and commercial development of various websites including ThisisLondon, Thisismoney, Soccernet and UKPlus. Lee joined Yahoo! as Sales Director in 1999 and was subsequently promoted to the position of Commercial Director with responsibility for the UK and Ireland. Lee oversaw strong revenue growth and experienced at first hand the boom-bust-boom phenomenon of the 2000-2002 period. Lee returned to Ireland in 2003 and worked as an independent consultant for a number of digital publishing brands. Lee was appointed launch Managing Director for Metro Ireland in early 2005 and oversaw the launch and development of this new publishing entrant. Lee left Metro in July 2008 to set up the digital sales agency, i-Believe. I-Believe is the commercial agent for various local and international media brands including Sky, DMGT, The Economist Group, Saongroup, Bauer Media, Future Publishing, IrishRugby.ie and many more.
Doug Baxter, CEO, Ocean Group
Doug spent 14 years in London where he was latterly chief executive of Smurfit Media UK. Upon his return to Ireland in 2001, Doug founded Ocean Advertising, which has consistently been one of the fastest growing agencies in Dublin in the last 9 years.
A key part of its growth has been Ocean's vision of how brands can develop integrated marketing campaigns involving profitable and effective online strategies. Ocean recently merged with Birth Digital, its sister company to create io, Ireland's foremost 'Future Facing' advertising agency. io works across all platforms and has demonstrated success in mobile and online marketing. Doug went on to continue the growth of the Ocean group when he launched Ocean PR in 2007, a consumer PR agency that generates coverage for clients in traditional media and digital channels. In 2009, Tim France was appointed as managing director of io and the company expanded into the UK market setting up an office in London. io London has secured accounts from several multinationals including Husqvarna, Cityjet and The Wall Street Journal Europe.
Tim Hurles, Creative Director, IO
Tim Hurles is Creative Director for IO. His Sinclair Spectrum (and an early encounter with hacking) opened his eyes to the strange and wonderful potential of digital experiences.
His degree in philosophy opened his mind to the merits of trying, failing and trying again. His MA in digital design opened doors in late 90s London. Having been an art director, designer and creative director in London for various agencies, he started his own digitally-focused creative agency in Bankside, London in 2003. In 2005 he moved to Dublin and started a family. Soon after arriving he became a partner in future-facing ad agency IO. He has worked with Levi's, Audi, Bentley, Save the Children, CityJet and Opel, amongst others.
Shenda Loughnane, Managing Director, ICAN
Shenda Loughnane is Managing Director of ICAN, Ireland's leading interactive advertising agency.
Shenda has over 20 years experience in both traditional and Interactive advertising, with experience gained in London, Dublin and Eastern Europe. ICAN has created a range of digital solutions for some of the leading Irish and international brands and are regularly recognised at industry awards.
Adam Clarke, Director, Strategem iLABS
Adam has worked in digital marketing for 10 years. Uniquely, Adam started his career with three years working behind the screens as software developer and actionscript professional before founding his own digital marketing services company in 2003 with UK & Irish clients such as London Theatre Bookings, Jones Lang and LaSalle, and OHM Group.
Adam was enticed to join Agency.com in 2007 where he developed integrated digital communications strategies for such clients as Topaz, Jameson global, Masterfoods, HRI, and SafeFood.eu.
In 2009 Adam moved to Strategem as Digital Planning Director where he, together with Keith Lee, set up 'Strategem iLABS'; an agency first R&D function focused on ensuring Irish clients are among the first to avail of emerging technologies in the digital arena worldwide.
